Journal Entry 2

Nothing really special happened in the pst 24 hours I guess. It was a pretty busy day though.I ended up getting to school just before the bell rang because I fell back asleep after originally getting up and had to get all ready in five minutes. I ended up getting out of school at around 2:30 which gave me half an hour before I had to go to work so I made a quick dinner and left to work. Work was pretty slow until around 5 when the place just got packed. I'm a bus boy by the way. After work ended at seven, I had to change into my soccer clothes and rush to practice at 7:30. Practice was pretty fun, until mid way through, a coyote decided to stroll on through the field like it owned the place. After that, practice just resumed normally and at 9:45, I finally made it home. Luckily, I didn't have any homework so I was able to get to sleep at a decent time.

Journal Entry 1

Yesterday was a very long day. After school I had work immediately after until 7:00. After work, I had to rush home, change and hop back in the car and drive up to CCV for soccer practice at 7:30. When that was finally over at around 9:30, I went back home to eat and finish homework before going to bed at around midnight. Because of the night's chaos, this morning didn't go as well as planned. I woke up fne at my regular time, 6:30, but after taking a shower I decided to lay back down for a little before eating and getting ready. Unfortunately, the qick lie down turned into a long nap. Luckily I was able to wake myself up at 7:20, 5 minutes before I usually go to school. Without breakfast,  I was lucky enough to make it to school on time.

Super Powers

If I could have any super power I want, I would choose the power to control time because I'd never not get enough sleep, I'd never be late, and I'd be able to fix anything that happened in the past .

Fast Food

To be honest, I can't even remember the last time I've had fast food so I'd have to guess like a month or two ago which was probably a cheeseburger and fries from In n' Out or BK.

Graphic Design Careers

In graphic design, there are many different career paths to choose from depending on your area of expertise and passion. On the contrary to many people’s beliefs, graphic design isn’t only just working in Photoshop or Illustrator. There are all different variations like a Flash designer for a website and being able to code everything properly to make it run easy and smooth. Also careers in multimedia and even regular illustrations on paper can be considered graphic design and, of course, finally, there is the everyday Photoshop and Illustrator magician varying anywhere from logo design, branding design, photo editing, and web designs.
For many, the idea of Flash design is relatively new. This Macromedia product has only recently made its way out onto the market. It’s a great well-rounded tool for web design easy for beginners to understand and complicated enough to fulfill the wishes of any expert designer. Flash is the is the best way to create interactive and creative websites, using photos in vector format so they can be scaled up or down without losing any quality. Flash designers are able to create and customize dozens of unique effects including text, navigation animation, video and audio in order to create interactive movies on the web. One big example of this is Youtube, the largest video sharing site in the world. If you plan on being a Flash designer it’s necessary that you have a good idea into the internet, HTML and the basics of web design. Also a training course to get started in Flash, found at many media schools around the world is the best way to start off.
Another popular career is photo editing of whom the designers are referred to as “Photoshop Gurus.” In photo editing, designers have the ability to take digital photos and images and manipulate, crop, color correct and do anything in an endless amount of possible effects. Many people probably have heard of these types of designers. Many photo editors are the people who take family portraits and then edit then correcting any mistakes in the photo.
A graphic design career that you may not even have considered was graphic design is photography. Photography is more than just taking pictures. Photographers have to know the ins and outs of many different programs on both the computer and the camera itself. Digital photography goes hand in hand with graphic design work flow because the output is already in a digital format. So you will often have a photographer taking shots for a graphic designer, who will work with the digital files directly.
Finally, the last graphic design career I’m going to talk about is web design. Most of the time, web designers work has the largest audience, but it’s commonly overlooked. Web designers design everything you see on a web page. This includes the layout, text, and other graphics. They get to design the look and feel of a website. All of this involves skill and training in computer graphics, graphic design, and in the latest in computer and web technology.

I feel that I'm ready for finals but a little catching up would really help.

Disagreement

If I disagree with someone, I may handle it in different ways. If it's something I feel should be argued about I will but if it's not very serious I just may make a sarcastic comeback like o.k. or something.

Grades

I'm satisfied with all of my grades except for language arts because, by the end of the year I will be able to get them all up to A's. In language arts on the other hand is going to fall short and I'm hoping for a B which shouldn't be too hard.

Journal Entry

Yesterday I went paintballing for my friends birthday for the first time. It was pretty scary because another kid from the party and I were the only two that didn't have professional gear or ou own guns. Then when I first got to shoot mine, I realised it was only a single shot and that every else had full auto paintball guns. At the end of the day I did pretty good. I got about 16 people in 5 or 6 games but came home with a few giant welts and a sun burnt neck.

Spring Break

Over Spring Break I went up to my friend's cabin in Flagstaff. Luckily, last weekend, a storm came through and we got over 3 feet of snow but, we ended up being stuck in the cabin until the snow plow came on Monday afternoon. Also, we had no water until then because a pipe was broken and if we turned the water on, it would poor out all over the side of the house. Finally the plumber came and was able to fix it and on Tuesday we were able to go snowboarding.

Most Frightening Thing...

The most frightening things thats ever happened to me was one time when I went snowboarding and while I was on the lift going to the top, the person sitting next to me got so scared that they jumped off the list but as they were falling they must have changed their mind because they grabbed my board and nearky pulled me down. Luckily i has able to hold on but I was just hanging by my hands. For 2 minutes or so I was there trying to pull myself up but my board kept catching the trees below which was giving me such a struggle. I was eventually able to get back up, but that time I was dangling there 15 feet above the ground was the scariest moments of my life

Journal Entry

Yesterday in Graphic Design I ended up re-starting my clip art assignment because I didn't like how my original one turned out, a tree by the way. After looking for a little bit I found a cool joker skull clip art sort of thing to recreate. After working on that all yesterday I was able to have most of it done. Today, I was able to finish it and post it to my blog, which is a miracle, because I hardly ever have something finished early in this class for whatever the reason might be, but that's about it.

Books

The last book that I read was Brave New World. It's about an anti-utopian, futuristic society where men and women are produced in mass groups, all identical, through a factory line instead of by a male and female. They are then brain washed at a young age depending on the type of person they are alpha, beta, or gama (smart, average, dumb). In the book, the main character is able to see the flaws with the society and tries to stop it.

Summary

The article, "Protein Supplements are Often Misused by Athletes, Study Show, is about a study conducted on athletes and their supplement consumption. In the study, 42 athletes kept a journal of their eating habits for three days. The reports showed that 9 out of 10 athletes used a food supplement on a daily basis. Even more, when asked about what it did for them only 1 of 4 could provide an answer. What these athletes don't realise is the down side of using these supplements. For starters, many supplements contain unlisted ingredients, usually prohibited drugs. Also, studies show that consumers of these supplements have very high levels of "sodium, magnesium, niacin, folate, vitamin A and iron", which could cause "nausea, vision trouble, fatigue and liver anomalies."

Journal Entry

Yesterday in Graphic Design, we started to learn about the pen and pencil tool. I think it was pretty easy, especially with the help videos. The pencil tool il pretty cool how you can change the shape of an existing line by drawing out the way you want it and it will sill connect to the shape or image you are creating.

Exercise

Usually I exercise every day. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I have soccer practice from 7 to 9 and on Tuesdays I have a speed and lifting session also for soccer. Also, most weekends I have multiple soccer games lasting an hour to an hour and a half a piece. With this, I only have Fridays off which is when I usually hang out with friends and skate or bike.

The Weekend

Over the weekend, nothing much really happened. This was due to me being grounded. I wasn't able to do anything: watch T.V., go outside, hang out with friends, or play video games. Basically, I spent most of the weekend catching up on homework and that's it. Unfortunately, I have another weekend ahead that should be very similar.

News Desk Background (Not Finished)

MacBook

I'd buy a MacBook Pro beause I currently have a PC from 2001 that is still running on xp or some crappy software and is slower than a turtle. The reason I want a Mac over a PC is because my mom has a Mac desktop and I like it so much better than my PC. Also, since I have an iPhone and iPad, I don't see why not.

News Desk Background

I thought this assignment was pretty cool. I didn't really understand what to do at first because when I searched it up on the internet, most of the results weren't news rooms they were more of a green screen backdrop or something but after Mr. Larsen described it, I was able to figure out what to do and I'm pretty happy with where I am with it.

When I have kids, I would definitely let them play sports. For one, I've played sports all of my lofe and see nothing wrong with letting my kids play. Also, not only are sports a great learning experience but they are a way to stay healthy and make new friends which is very important for kids now-a-days.

Journal Entry

Yesterday was pretty hectic. First, I had to wake up early to make up a test for math which was at 6:30 and then directly after school, I had to take my brother to get his haircut. After that I had soccer practice for two hours. Then, I had to go out to dinner for my grandma's birthday. Finally, when I got home, I had to finish up my homework and could go to bed at last.

Favorite B-Day Memory

My favorite birthday memory was from when I was eight years old and my birthday was at Laser Quest. It was only the second time I have ever been there and the second game in I ended up taking first over all the kids and their parents. I felt so happy after that, and that became one of my favorite birthdays overall.

Super Bowl XLVI

I watched the Super Bowl yesterday butit wasn't much of a big deal for me considering I don't care for either of the teams that played. I guess if I think about it, I'm kind of happy with the result since I never really cared for the Pats.

TED Talk 7

1. Pattie Maes and Pranav Mistry

2. The sixth sense. The talk was about a new invention that could possibly act as a humans sixth sense. Its a device that you are able to wear that can interact with the environment around you. For example, if you were at a grocery store and wanted to know how much a stray can of beans costs, all you have to do is let the device scan it and then it will be able to tell you the price. Also, depending on where you are, the invention can scan the environment around you and give you information around it. It's basically a wearable Google.

3. I thought it was pretty cool but then it made me question how dependable humans are on technology now. Everything we do is based around it and everyday, people are continuing to find shortcuts throught it, basically destroying our instict to explore or discover stuff ourselves.

Day Off

On my day off I had to wake up early to go to the dentist for teeth cleaning. Then, an hour or so later I went to the doctors because I have been sick all week. After that, all I did was chilled at home and watched T.V.

Elementary School

One of my memories from elementary school was back in first grade when I broke my arm. During recess, a few friends and I were playing tag on the jungle gym and when I got cornered by the tagger I could either be it or jump off so i decided to jump but I ended up being tagged at the same time as I jumped and the extra force from the tag sent me horizantal. When I was going down I didn't know what to do so I just threw my right arm out to break the fall. Unfortunately that wasn't one of my brightest ideas and my forearm snapped at impact.

Journal Entry

My weekend was pretty boring because I was grounded so not much went on. All I did was help around the house and watch T.V. Probably the only fun thing I did this weekend was go to one of my parent's friend's birthday party and the only reason it was fun was because I was good friends with their son. Other than that, really boring. Also, I feel terrible today. I woke up dizzy with a head ache and threw up a couple times.

TED Talk 6

1. Keith Barry gave the talk. He is a mind magician or mind reader.
2. The talk was about Keith Barry doing magic trick using is mind and reading those of others. In the talk he showed how he could drive a car while blindfolded by being able to see through the eyes of the passenger. The he used two people in a so-called "voo-doo" experiment where when he poke on in the back and scratched his arm the other felt it not knowing that he had done it to the other because she was blindfolded.
3. The talk made me think if it was all possible or all just set up. It's really interesting but there is no real proof otherwise. The only people that know for sure are the volunteers. If it were possible though, it is really amazing.

Journal Entry 12/19

Yesterday after school I had a soccer game unfortunately we lost in PK's by one but overall, I had a good game. I saved our team many times on defense and we were finally able to put tone away to tie it up before the end which gave us all hope, but unfortunately it didn't help. Because of this, I didnt get home until 9:30 and had a ton of homework to do which kept me up until midnight, so I am super tired today.

Retirement

When people retire, I think they are so relieved to finally get a break but after time passes they get bored of doing nothing and eventually get a part-time job. Also, if someone is payed more they might decide to down size their home or maybe move and even decide to travel the world. It's also a time for people to relax and enjoy life no matter what they might be doing.

Winter Break

My break wasn't as fun as I hoped. Up to Christmas was fine but after that, I got sick. The entire week after I was stuck in my bed all day with the flu or something. Luckily Christmas was good so everything wasn't a complete disaster. I ended up get a new flatscreen T.V. for my room and a new iPhone. After the week of Christmas passed, I started feeling better. Unfortuneately, I was supposed to go up to Flagstaff to go snowboarding but as you can pobably guess, it didn't happen. This bummed me out because I love snowboarding. The rest of the week I spent hanging out with friends and playing soccer. I also ended up painting my room on Saturday which was harder than I expected.
