Summary

The article, "Protein Supplements are Often Misused by Athletes, Study Show, is about a study conducted on athletes and their supplement consumption. In the study, 42 athletes kept a journal of their eating habits for three days. The reports showed that 9 out of 10 athletes used a food supplement on a daily basis. Even more, when asked about what it did for them only 1 of 4 could provide an answer. What these athletes don't realise is the down side of using these supplements. For starters, many supplements contain unlisted ingredients, usually prohibited drugs. Also, studies show that consumers of these supplements have very high levels of "sodium, magnesium, niacin, folate, vitamin A and iron", which could cause "nausea, vision trouble, fatigue and liver anomalies."
